The Montessori Program @ Jubilee

Education for Life

Authentically Montessori

Jubilantly Christian

We provide a nurturing environment, grounded in our Christian faith and biblical Montessori principles of freedom, within boundaries that support individualized hands-on learning, self-discovery, independence, concentration, coordination of movement, order, community, and the development of kindness, respect and self-discipline. We aim to educate or “lead out” of our students a love for and joy in learning, and to give them “keys” to the world while providing an opportunity to absorb truth, love, goodness, and beauty -- and to grow into the fullness of all the Lord created them to be.

Jubilantly Christian

We are a vibrant, Christian community and caring atmosphere, where Christ is at the center of all our work every day, as we glorify and enjoy Him.

Our aim is to model for our students a love for God and neighbor, and to shape and rightly order their loves towards the transcendentals: the true, the good, and the beautiful.

We offer child-centered learning guided by an MACTE-trained Montessori teacher. With the opportunity to work for extended periods of time in peace and concentration, children become calm and joyful. They learn with ease through their interaction with the environment, while the teacher serves as an observant guide, understanding each student's growth and providing the materials for deeper understanding at just the right time. The fruits of a successful Montessori program are children who love learning.

Practical Life

We recognize that children learn in different ways, at their own pace. The Montessori program and The Jubilee School share the same mission, which is to to educate children of all abilities, in partnership with parents – to discern truth, goodness, and beauty in God’s creation – and joyfully discover their fullest potential.

  1. First Year (3 and 4 year-olds): Children develop familiarity, routine and comfort with their new environment, peers and adults. Practical life exercises will form the basis for their independent work, and they begin to take responsibility for care of self and environment. They also work with very concrete concepts, such as quantity and phonetic sounds.
  2. Second Year (4 and 5 year-olds): Children serve as mentors to younger children, and become active partners in their own work, able to self-direct their learning. The Guide/Teacher begins to step back as the child begins to step forward.
  3. Third Year (5 and 6 year-olds): Children’s overall development appears to equal or exceed what was experienced in the previous two years. They learn through teaching, and continue to mentor young children. They possess patience to stick with lessons that are challenging. Growth is evident as children learn to make choices. The following qualities emerge: Patience, Problem-solving, Concentration, Leadership, Resilience, Adaptability, Curiosity, Independence, Self-Confidence.

The "Kindergarten year" is where a child’s earlier experiences and skills consolidate, are internalized, and become a permanent part of his or her understanding. Children entering their Kindergarten year have finally become the leaders of the community. Their confidence soars while they model everything from academic work to socially-appropriate behavior to their younger friends.

In this program, your child will be introduced to opportunities for a well-rounded course of study within the context of the home and larger community of the child.
