At Jubilee, we use a Montessori approach, which is different than traditional early childhood programs, so if you are not already familiar with it, click the button below to learn more.
Primary Prep at The Jubilee School is a Montessori preschool and kindergarten program serving children ages 3–6 in Moscow, Idaho. Rooted in Montessori principles and guided by a Christian vision of education, the program lays a strong foundation for future learning by cultivating independence, concentration, and joy in meaningful work. These early years prepare students not only with academic readiness but with habits of attention, responsibility, and confidence that carry into the later years of their education at Jubilee or beyond.
Children remain in the same prepared environment for three years. Younger students build foundational skills through observation and hands-on practice. Older students assume leadership, deepen academic work, and model responsibility within the classroom community.
The third year, often corresponding to kindergarten, is a culminating year. Students consolidate reading, writing, and mathematical foundations while growing in confidence and maturity.

The Montessori classroom is structured around intentional, hands-on materials that build academic and practical competence. Students engage daily in language development, early mathematics, practical life skills, and cultural studies within an extended morning work period that encourages sustained concentration.
Christian formation is woven naturally into the rhythm of the day. Children learn habits of gratitude, kindness, and responsibility within a community centered on Christ.
Primary Prep meets Monday through Thursday and serves children ages 3–6, functioning as a Montessori preschool for younger students and a full-day kindergarten in the final year of the three-year cycle.
Half-day options are available for younger students. Full-day enrollment is offered for kindergarten students, allowing for expanded academic engagement and leadership within the classroom.
The daily schedule includes an uninterrupted Montessori work period, outdoor time, shared instruction, and community life within The Jubilee School calendar.

Yes. While many students begin the three-year Montessori cycle at age three, children may enter at age four or five if space allows. The classroom structure supports new students at each stage of development, and teachers guide them thoughtfully into the rhythm and expectations of the Montessori environment.
Many families find that Montessori education supports children with ADHD well. The classroom provides structured freedom, hands-on materials, and opportunities for purposeful movement. Rather than requiring long periods of passive listening, students engage actively with meaningful work at their own pace. Clear expectations and individualized guidance help children develop focus, self-regulation, and independence over time. As with any educational setting, we encourage families to speak with us about their child’s specific needs.
Montessori classrooms are organized around sustained work periods, hands-on materials, and individualized instruction rather than whole-group, teacher-led lessons. Students choose purposeful activities within a carefully prepared environment and receive lessons based on readiness rather than age alone. This approach encourages independence, deep concentration, and internal motivation while still providing clear structure and guidance.
